teaser tuesday {11}

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB over @ Should be Reading. Check out her blog to get the rules! There's no way I can just share two lines, so most of these will probably more like paragraphs.

This week's teaser is from Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley!

"I walk across to the wall. A yellow bird lies legs up under a blue sky, and the word Peace is sprayed in curled letters across the clouds.

'I guess it's too late to give peace a chance,' Al says. 'Looks like it's dead.'

'Nope,' I say. 'It's only sleeping.'"
-pg. 20 {US ARC}

Literally just started reading this and I'm so so so in love with it already. Misconceptions are running amuck and I crave the conflict surely to come. Graffiti Moon is to be released in the US February 14, 2012, AKA my birthday ;)

This week's teaser is from My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent!

"'Do you have some kind of disorder? Some synapse misfiring up there-' he gestured vaguely toward Nash's head '-that makes you incapable of keeping your mouth shut? Or are you just a garden-variety fool?'"
-pg. 146

I'm re-reading the first book before I finish the rest of the series. This line is from one of my favorite scenes in My Soul to Take because we get to meet one of my favorite characters! :)

This week's teaser is from Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder!

"My heart dropped into my stomach and ran laps. Lieutenant Commander Karla and three Pop Cops followed my supervisor. The LC's smug expression and the terrified fury on my supervisor's face told me all I needed to know. Without hesitating, I ran."
-pg. 196

I actually just finished this book about five minutes ago and I absolutely loved it. Badassery is abundant and I'm so excited to start the second book in the series, Outside In. Maria V. Snyder's writing style is flawless and her protags. are always fierce. Love love love.

This week's teaser is from Adios, Nirvana by Conrad Wesselhoeft!

"During the night, I have jumped off the precipice, spread my wings, and swooped. I have smashed rules--of spelling, punctuation, and syntax. Gleefully. I have flown fast and far."
-pg. 182

I don't think any teaser can adequately show how truly fantastic Adios, Nirvana is. It's definitely not a book for everyone, but it's special. A very John Green-esque, find yourself type novel that left me wishing it didn't end. One of my favorite books of the year/ever.

This week's teaser is from The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa!

"In the end, it didn't matter. A simple wish wouldn't save us from what we had to do, and my mind was made up.  "
-pg. 131

Last week's teaser was from The Iron Daughter, the second book in the series, so It's kind of fitting that this week's teaser is from the next installment. If you have a teaser please link below in the comments! I love reading them and would love if you shared yours. Happy Tuesday!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my CONTEST and vote in the poll at the bottom of my blog!

This week's teaser is from The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa!

"I took a deep breath, forcing back the tears, willing them to freeze inside me, to freeze everything inside me. Emotions, tears, memories, anything that made me weak. Because if I was going to play in the Unseelie Court, I had to be made of ice. No, not ice. Like iron."
-pg. 47

I love this series so far and this is one of my favorite lines from the first two books. If you have a teaser please link below in the comments! I love reading them and would love if you shared yours. Have a great week!

This week's teaser is from Rules to Rock By by Josh Farrar!

Abuela had always been big on getting tears out of your system. She said you needed to cry to put out the fires in your life, and that when you stopped you could take a look at what had burned down, and what hadn't. So I just cried for a minute or two. Abuela was probably the only person in the world who I'd let see me like that. I knew it wouldn't change the way she looked at me, so it didn't matter. I just cried it out.
-pg. 72 ARC

I love this scene because it's truly the first time we see Annabelle open up. She's always mad or nostalgic about her past life as a rockstar. Her relationship with her grandmother is really the only connection that matters much to her anymore, the only thing she can't lose. Rules to Rock By is really just a fun leaning-towards-middle-grade novel so far, but this little peek at depth gives it an edge on the other novels with similar themes. I'm really liking it so far!

So, where's YOUR Teaser Tuesday? I want to see it! Leave a link in the comments and I will definitely stop by your blog.

This week's teaser is from Inkheart by Cornelia Funke! I've only read a few chapters, so this teaser will be a surprise for us all. :)

"Well, well, who do we have here?" he asked in a menacingly soft voice, his fingers around Pippo's thin little neck. "What do you say to that, Flatnose? She doesn't have time to play." Basta pushed Meggie roughly aside and came through the door with Pippo, followed, of course by Flatnose, whose broad shoulders would hardly fit through the doorway.
-pg. 294 US Paperback

The first question this teaser raises for me is: 'Who in the hell is this Flatnose fellow?' Followed by: 'Who in the hell is this Pippo fellow?' Followed then by: 'Who in the hell is this Basta fellow?' Which is followed by: 'How does Cornelia Funke come up with these names?' And finally: 'Well, her name is Cornelia Funke...'

This week's teaser is from Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus! I've actually already finished it, but I haven't started anything new so this is it. (:

"'You can't leave, Zach,' Corinne said through gritted teeth.
He walked right past her. 'Watch me.'"

Guh, when Zach acts all BAMF I can't resist. I like this teaser because you can't really tell who Corinne is or what her relationship with Zach is.

I love reading teasers, so feel free to leave a link in the comments!

This week's teaser comes from The Alchemyst by Michael Scott:

"But she is not the only Elder on the West Coast." The Morrigan's voice was a snap of triumph.

"What are you suggesting?" Fear had touched Dee's voice with a hint of his original English accent.

"I know where Bastet sleeps."

Ooooh, doesn't it make you want to know more? Doesn't it tease you? *wink wink, nudge nudge* Yeah, I know that was lame, but I didn't know what else to say! Leave a comment with your Teaser Tuesday, I want to see them!

Another note: I signed up for NaNoWriMo today! Yay! If anyone would like to be Writing Buddies, my account's over here. :D

"Yeah, no kidding," he replies. "You're heavier than I remember."
I frown, mortified.
"Oh, no, wait. I didn't mean it like that, just that you've gotten older. Wait, that doesn't sound much better..." Silas  runs a hand through his hair and curses under his breath.- Found on page 27 in the hardcover version.
Oh, Silas. Your awkward yet endearing nature fascinates me, so.

"The red-tinged air was full of the smell of burning, the night split by shrieks and screams. Doors opened all up and down the rows of houses-people were darting out of them, then stopping dead as they saw the streets filled with monsters."
-City of Glass- Cassandra Clare; pg. 227
I'm currently re-reading City of Glass, and simultaneously re-discovering how much I love Cassandra Clare's world. It's amazing how even though I know what will happen I'm still worried for everyone! These books are brilliant and I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't read them. Plus, then you can stare at this yummy cover all day. (;
