Book Blogger Hop {6}!

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books! Check out her blog for the complete rules and details about this week's hop.

Hello hoppers, I'm Cara. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Q. What's the one genre that you wish you could get into, but just can't?

A. This one's pretty hard for me to answer, because I generally like a good amount of books from most genres. There are types of books I can't get into inside certain genres. I guess that can count?

I hate books about teen pregnancy. I refuse to read them. Sounds harsh right? I don't know why, but I just don't have any interest in that topic. It probably stems from the fact that I never want to think of having my own child at any age, so reading about people my age having babies is WOAH, NO, LET'S NOT DO THAT. I turn into the health teacher from Mean Girls when I read about teens making babies.

I don't want to act like a crazy health teacher, ergo I avoid teen pregnancy contemporaries like the plague.

Have you participated in the hop this week? Leave your link and I'll be sure to stop by your blog!
Happy Friday!

"Cups"-Lulu and the Lampshades,

I actually chose a genre, but I get that certain story lines can be a turn off. I hate reading about cheating, although there are a few exceptions (although only Something Borrowed pops into mind!), so I get you on the teen pregnancy issue.

I have to read the book to see if I dislike it (what genre did you mean btw) when it comes to teen pregnancy.

New follower from the hop :) I think books about teen pregnancy have to be very well written or set in a dystopian society to really be appealing.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I didn't like teenage pregnancy stories at your age either. I sometimes read them now but it's still not a favorite topic of mine for fiction.

Since last week's pie chart about where I get my books was so popular, I thought I'd share what types of books I do read. Please stop by to see which genres I don't typically read.

Just dropping by for the blog hop. I'm not so fond of teenage pregnancy books either. Actually, any book based around pregnancy would not be all that appealing to me. It's okay if it's in the background of the story, but I wouldn't enjoy it if it was the main thing.

I don't mind a decently written teen pregnancy book, but only if it's written in the right way and it doesn't come off as making it seem like "teen pregnancy" is the it cool thing to be doing. I mean, if it's a really good lesson in "let's please to not be doing this" or you'll have to deal with consequences "a" over here, then I can totally get behind it. I just don't want them glamorizing it and I'm guessing that's sort of where you're going with this. :)

Happy Friday Hops, have a grrreat weekend!

Bahaha! This totally cracked me up -- mostly because I TOTALLY know what you mean! In this modern age of birth control, the whole teen pregnancy thing baffles me. And I never want to have a kid, so having a kid while you're still a kid? No comprendo. Not at all. *shakes head*

Though, I guess Bumped was a teen pregnancy book and I was fascinated by it. It was really more "teen pregnancy on crack" though -- and I mean that in the best way.
